The Character Still Counts Award, presented by Scot Dickerson, recognizes a graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding character, integrity, and positive influence. The recipient of this award will be honored during our Senior Awards Ceremony on May 13th.
This award honors students who show:

  • Honesty & integrity
  • Empathy & compassion
  • Responsibility
  • Resilience
  • Positive influence on others
How to Apply:
  • Complete the application form (applications can be picked up in the counseling office or email Mrs. Thoren). 
  • Respond to 5 short essays (200–300 words each)
  • (Optional, but recommended) Submit up to 2 letters of recommendation
  • Full details on application located in the counseling office or with Mrs. Thoren)
Deadline: April 15, 2026
Submit to: Mrs. Thoren in the Counseling Office or email chelsie.thoren@g.perry.k12.ia.us
Students may self-nominate or be nominated by a teacher, peer, or community member.
**Note: this is a different application than the Local Scholarship Application.
