Heartland AEA Resources

As students will be doing more learning and reading from home, there are abundant helpful resources for parents and students through your local Area Education Agency (AEA). Iowa’s AEAs provide a broad variety of digital content for students, teachers and families selected by Iowa educators. Students and teachers are familiar with these vetted, age-appropriate and high-quality digital resources and use them in their daily work. These resources can be found in the Library & Digital Resources on our website.

There are read-aloud ebooks, ebooks, digital audiobooks, videos, encyclopedias, articles, newspapers and more for our youngest and oldest learners.

The username/password that students use to access quality digital content at school are as follows:

                                       User Name      Password

Perry Elementary        5184perrye     haea11

Perry High School       5184perryh     haea11

Perry Middle School   5184perrym    haea11

Some digital content vendors have waived the username/password so you may click on some resources and get right in.

*As a friendly reminder, do not publicly post or share usernames/passwords.

School Performance Information

The Iowa School Performance Profiles is an online tool showing how public schools performed on required measures. The website was developed to meet both federal and state requirements for publishing online school report cards: The federal Every Student Succeeds Act and House File 215, adopted by Iowa lawmakers in 2013.

The website includes:

  • Scores on school accountability measures required under ESSA
  • Ratings based on those scores: Exceptional, High Performing, Commendable, Acceptable, Needs Improvement, and Priority
  • Identification of schools for support and improvement based on accountability scores (Comprehensive and Targeted schools)
  • Additional education data that must be reported by law but do not figure into school accountability scores

Resources for Parents
The Iowa Department of Education has produced the "Iowa Core Parent Guides" in English and Spanish. There is one guide for each grade level Kindergarten through grade 8 and a guide for high school. Each guide is 4 pages and provides very useful information about the concepts and skills in Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and 21st Century Skills taught at that grade level.

There are five Characteristics of Effective Instruction that are part of the Iowa Core. These characteristics include student-centered classrooms, teaching for understanding, assessment for learning, rigor and relevance, and teaching for learner differences. Perry teachers work hard every day to ensure that these characteristics are present in every lesson.
